Seba
Swedish drum and bass producer Sebastian Ahrenberg has been making music for well over 10 years and never looked back. Since his seminal releases on Good Looking Seba's music has continued to progress and set new standards without ever comprising in style. Ethereal atmospheres, crisp breaks and sublime bass rhythms are hallmarks of a sound he has made his own, with releases from 'Sonic Winds' to 'Planetary Funk Alert' on LTJ Bukem's groundbreaking imprint, to more recent tracks for Soul:r, Metalheadz and his own Secret Operations. He has also just released his highly acclaimed debut album 'Return to Forever' on German label Combination Records. Whether as an artist in his own right or as a collaborator, Seba's sound is distinctive, finely balanced and powerful. His dj sets are reflective of this and when performing live, in particular together with vocalist Robert Manos, Seba takes his sound to new depths.

Originating from Ingaro, an island just outside Stockholm, Sebastian Ahrenberg started producing in the early 90s. Working with a basic home studio, he experimented with breakbeats and techno before finding his own unique style in drum and bass. Released on Swedish label Svek, under the alias Sunday Brunch, his techno productions include some of his first collaborations with long-term studio spars Lenk and Robert Manos.

Seba’s track 'Sonic Winds', written together with Lotek, was among his first drum and bass productions to be released on Good Looking and was selected by label boss LTJ Bukem for his Logical Progression mix cd series. Further releases soon followed, from the sublime and soulful ‘Planetary Funk Alert’ to the rich and ethereal ‘Valley of the Moomins’, and marked Seba as one of the finest exponents of an emerging new style.

To showcase his music and bring like-minded artists to his native shores, Seba started the club night Secret Operations in 1997. From humble beginnings in a cellar bar named Tuben in central Stockholm, the club went on to long run of successful nights. By 1999 the club had given rise to a record label with the same name.

The first release on Secret Operations came in the form of a compilation CD entitled ‘Case One’, bringing together music from Alaska, Lotek and Seba himself under his Forme guise. Staying true to it’s name, the label then went deep undercover only to resurface again in 2003 to present the 12inch single ‘Pieces/Banett’ by Seba and Lenk. Since then, the label has hosted Seba’s solo productions as well as work alongside his friend and fellow breakbeat pioneer, Paradox.

After years of discussing making music together, the pair finally joined forces and immediately made an impact with their first releases together on Bassbin (‘Frost’) and Freak (‘Planet, Stars’). Their single ‘Move On’ on Hospital Records, featuring the vocal talents of Robert Manos, was a massive success and proved their sound has both intengrity and broad appeal.

More recently Seba has collaborated with another longtime cohort, Krazy, on the single ‘High Priestess’ b/w `Chameleon’ for Paradox Music and the forthcoming Innerground release, ‘Arsenic’ b/w `Finola.’ Seba also further work with Paradox due on Horizons (`Time Starts Now’ b/w ‘Playing Games Remix’) and, released in late 2007, his single (`Warriors’ b/w `Wild One’) on Secret Operations.
